Five members of Afghanistan’s robotics team have arrived in Mexico, and the situation has worsened since the Taliban took control of Kabul.
“We warmly welcome you to Mexico,” said Marta Delgado, Mexico’s deputy foreign minister, at the Mexican airport.
The Taliban captured Kabul on Sunday last week, forcing thousands of people to flee Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden has said that he will withdraw American citizens and endangered Afghans from Afghanistan by August 9.
Afghanistan’s girls’ robotics team has eight members, who have won international awards and developed an artificial respiration device last March.
The Taliban, which in the past did not allow women to study and work, has this time promised that women’s rights and education will be a priority.
Mexico has promised to help the Afghan girls and has accepted their request in the first place.
